Masks required for staff and volunteers, recommended for all
EFFECTIVE 01/31/2021
As we have navigated the last 11 months and the ever-shifting circumstances related to COVID-19, it has always been our heart and intention to care for our church family and our community to the best of our ability – both spiritually and physically. This has required that we periodically review, consider, and adjust our approach as we strive to live out the call of Romans 15:1, “Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves.”
While we have recently seen indications of a decline in both new and active cases of COVID in Marshall County, we have also seen an increase of cases and exposures related or close to our church family. While we cannot be ruled or held captive by these realities, they are conditions that exist in our community, and we must take them into reasonable consideration when determining how we respond and adapt to the current climate. This is what Paul meant when he wrote in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” We need to ensure that our response supports this positive trend and does not become a factor in hindering or reversing it.
We must remember that our purpose as God’s church is to reach the lost – those who have yet to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus – with the life-giving message of the gospel. One of the first steps in that process is displaying care and compassion for the people around us, regardless of their current spiritual condition. As we position ourselves to do exactly that, we must make choices and decisions that will allow us to rise to meet the challenges of this current season and continue to serve God and love our neighbors well.
We also desire to make every effort possible and to take every precaution necessary in order to continue gathering in-person for worship and bible study.
It is with all of that in mind that the Elders and Pastors have determined that it is now necessary to implement a mask requirement for all staff and volunteer team members serving on campus at LifeSong. This requirement will apply to every staff member and volunteer actively serving on Sundays, Wednesdays, and any time the building is open to the public. The only exception to this policy will be for those who are serving in an on-stage role during Sunday morning worship. Those team members singing, playing an instrument, or speaking from the stage may remove their masks only while on stage due to the nature and demand of their roles.
We will also continue to recommend and encourage the wearing of masks for everyone entering the building. We will continue offering complimentary masks for those who need them. These will now be available outside the entrance to the main lobby.
Distanced seating will remain available, first by reservation and then on a walk-in basis. We will continue to offer standard seating on a walk-in basis for those who wish to utilize that option as well.
Uniting and working together as a team and as a church in this way will help us to continue to grow and thrive in Christ while caring for and loving our community well.
We will continue to monitor and evaluate the conditions related to COVID-19 in our area and make additional adjustments and future changes as they become necessary or appropriate.

phased return to in-person gatherings...
After much prayer and careful consideration, our leadership team have arrived at a phased re-entry plan. In an effort to care for even the most vulnerable among us amidst an ever-changing tide of information and developments, the initial phases will include capacity limitations. As we progress through the phases, these limitations will gradually be lifted until they are no longer necessary. We resumed gathering for in-person worship on June 7, 2020.
